hey Nervo, the headache is still there....think this is day 4 or maybe 5 now, but I remember getting them for a while when I started the tablets, so I'm hoping it will start to get better in a bit

despite the crappy headache I actually had a good day yesterday, which was the first for a while....DHsaid to me he didn't know what to do cos I was cheery

Nat99 · 15/11/2014 22:07

Hi nosleep, that's the usual time I wake up or 4am and all sweaty and horrible thoughts with stomach going round. Asked doc if night sweats side effect and he said no so of course I start oanicking about that too! But lots of people seem to be saying it does. I hope I start sleeping too altho with this op I'm scared still about and the outcome I doubt it somehow! :(

Willfeelbettersoon · 15/11/2014 22:17

Hi all and to anyone new welcome.

Pandora I've had that very apathetic feeling with sertraline. After 6 weeks on it my gp has recommended tapering off it because Im still feeling nauseous and generally not good. I am just going to take beta blockers for the anxiety for now and will be reviewed in one month. I already feel more clear headed having not taken last night's dose and calm due to the beta blocker.

Nat I feel for you. You really do worry over your health. I hope you don't mind me asking but has something happened to somebody close to you healthwise that perhaps you havnt come to terms with and that's why you get so concerned? I'm sure whatever they find they will be able to sort it out. All the best for Monday.

No sleep- I was suffering burnout when I went to my gp 6 weeks ago. Although i havnt tolerated the sertraline one thing I have noticed is that I feel less burnt out now, less exhausted and fatigued by everything so perhaps it has given my brain a bit of a rest! Alternative route wise I have made a concerted effort to rest more regularly throughout the day when I can, take omega 3 fish oil and a multi vit with iron tablet. Your GI bleed may have been stress related as stress does cause these things.

nosleeptilever · 15/11/2014 22:50

hi Will, thanks, the gp said prolonged stress could be a factor but I was astounded at how dismissive the gi consultant was about lifestyle factors. I was taking ibuprofen fairly regularly which I've completely stopped now. I've also stopped drinking alcohol and stopped eating gluten. So far not sure if any of it is helping Confused.
Nat, I read that one of the side effects was increased sweating so I'm sure it's just that. I have a bit of health anxiety as well as gad so I've been watching my side effects obsessively. It's exhausting isn't it?Thanks best wishes for your surgery.
I'm supposed to go back to work on Monday which is making me feel so low and anxious. I'm hoping for some more time off to just sleep and feel normal again.

Nat99 · 15/11/2014 23:09

Thank u for the wishes x just so frightend. My boss died suddenly and my aunty too from cancer but it's always been there really but for some reason the last couple of months is completely spiralled. Lost a stone in 4 weeks and look and feel a complete mess :(

Willfeelbettersoon · 15/11/2014 23:44

I know the feeling of looking and feeling a complete mess I have felt like that recently too. One day at a time. When do you next see your gp Nat? Are you still on the Diazepam? To be fair anyone would be anxious before an op, the fact you are having this done on monday is clearly going to increase your health anxieties. once its all over and you have recovered from the op you will feel better. Remember that 'safe place' try to visualize that. As no sleep said sweating is a side effect of sertraline. Could also be all the anxiety making you sweat. Try to relax anyway you can. Easier said than done I know.

Hey Closed good to hear that you are cheery enough to have people notice. Smile

As for the headache, might be a silly question but do you drink enough water?

Summersover - hope you feel less shaky this evening.

Willfeelbettersoon · 16/11/2014 22:13

All the best for tomos Nat.

Summer I havnt had experience of mirtazapine so don't know about the shaking and trembling. Is it listed as a side effect? Also most people feel worse initially on start up so it could be an exaggeration of your anxiety or combination of both. Pandora is on your med so she may know. Sorry not much help.

Closed it's good that you had a good day. Hope they get more frequent for you.

Willfeelbettersoon · 16/11/2014 22:18

Nervo and closed I had headaches with sertraline for about a week. Took paracetamol which helped. After a week no more headache. Drinking plenty fluids does help.

Pandora37 · 17/11/2014 00:39

summer I haven't had any trembling on mirtazapine but I did when I first started sertraline, I think it's most likely an increase in anxiety which is common at the start. It should die down over the next few days, hopefully.

Good luck for tomorrow Nat.

MouseandChops1 · 17/11/2014 12:52

Good luck today Nat.
Hello to new joiners. Ole everyone's having an ok day.

Anyone have advice on how long before you see an improvement when you increase your dose? It's been nearly 4 weeks and I'm still getting anxiety on/off. I'm worried they are not working for me.

Pandora37 · 17/11/2014 18:05

What dose are you on now Mouse? I'd say it was a good 3 weeks after my dose was increased on sertraline that I started to feel better.

I've been feeling a bit chirpier today. My dose was increased about 10 days ago so fingers crossed it's doing something.

Nervo · 17/11/2014 18:56

Evening all. Day 5 for me. So far, no side effects (touchwood).

I had a lovely weekend without thought of work invading my every thought and without the physical symptoms of anxiety.

I reckon I'm one of those people that placebos work on. Smile

Anyway, this morning while I was getting ready for work, all the stressful things that will happen this week crept into my brain. Roll on Friday.

Hope everything went okay today Nat.

I probably don't drink enough water so that's a good shout Nervo and will feel.....this continual headache is getting wearing, so I guess that could help

Nat, hope you're doing okay

Nat99 · 17/11/2014 19:44

Hi everyone well I am just back home after a 5.30 start this morning to get to the hospital. Was shaking like an absolute leaf when they took me down and very nearly bottled it. One minute lady talking to me next minute I am being woken up, such a strange odd feeling I hate it. Took me back up after being in recovery and didn't feel too bad, still not anxious. They told me to take me anti depressant too once I had a cup of tea etc. Then one of the nurses said the consuktant had said to give me a painkiller called volterol which I will let u imagine where it went. when consultant came to see me an hour later I told him I was feeling really odd and it was only since havinf the volterol from the nurse. He went out and came back it and said there had been a mistake and she shouldn't have given it to me as he had already done it in theatre! She had to come and retrieve what she could which was only about half and not a nice experience! So after feeling not so bad my anxiety absolutely rocketed! They said it would maybe only give me bad tummy but I was really panicking . They said I had to stay in longer to keep an eye on me and before I left I had to have blood tests and more on Thursday because of it. :( not a graeat day to say the least x

O dear Nat I so feel for you, must have been horrible for you. Thank goodness though it wasn't anything worse than voltarol! They couldn't have
Picked a more anxious person to make a mistake like that on!! Did the actual procedure go okay and when do you get the results?
Nervo hope your week goes okay at work. Good that you don't all the side effects.
I am currently weening off the sertraline because sadly after 6 weeks I couldn't tolerate the side effects. Have reduced down to 25mgs every other night. Was given beta blocker for anxiety and doc said it would be okay with the sertraline so I took it night before last. After I had taken it I Googled the combination and read that they can interact. I went into panic mode and thought I was going to die during the night!! Felt very relieved when I woke yesterday morning feeling okay and was still alive! Needless to say I am going to leave the beta blocker until I am off the sertraline.

Nat99 · 18/11/2014 08:24

Get the results later this week, the surgeon did say it looked ok so just trying to hold onto that as much as I can do. Weelfeelbettersoon how bad were the side effects for you still after 6 weeks? I completely understand about the inheraction thing I was petrified yesterday and they have said I can take paracetomal for the pain but I haven't taken anything as too scared! I have been on sertraline for just over 3 weeks now and altho side effects mostly gone apart from night sweats and waking up I still don't feel any different. The only thing is I feel like I csnt cry which is really odd, has anyone else had this? I know 3 weeks is not long but I thought at least a bit different snd I was hoping for the very least to get better sleep. Even after anethestic i felt wired and anxios last night x

Willfeelbettersoon · 18/11/2014 09:45

Mainly nausea Nat. I couldn't cope with keep feeling sick. No other side effects lingered. 3 weeks is still early days to notice any real changes in your mood. I think that can take up to 6 weeks. It's good that the consultant says everything looks okay. Very positive.

Nat99 · 18/11/2014 10:24

Oh ok. I never really had that . It's the sleep thing that's really gettig to me. I know it sounds minor but I get so stressed when I wake up and can't get back to sleep with my mind racing x

Pandora37 · 18/11/2014 12:23

I feel for you on the sleeping problems Nat. I'm a bit better now my dose has gone up but I still took what felt like forever to get to sleep last night. Are you on 50mgs? Might be worth going up a dose next week, I've found the lower doses of anti depressants don't do much for me. I wish I hadn't wasted 4 weeks on 15mgs, I should have done 2 weeks and then gone up. Never mind, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I'm glad your op went well, fingers crossed for the results.

Yesterday sounds very stressful Nat, at least it's over and done with now and you can move forward. Hope today's much better.

Completely understand the whole sleep anxiety. It's horrid, especially at ridiculous o' clock when everyone else is sleeping.

Pandora, I'm now on 100mg. It's nearly been 4 weeks. Should I preserve and accept that it can take time or see my gp?
