Feeling low

I have depression. I usually manage to keep the 'black dog' at bay by keeping REALLY busy, with FT work, voluntary work, exercise, Mumsnet. But I have lost my job (trying to set up freelance), voluntary work has dried up and exercise classes are closed for August, I can feel myself slipping...

Can anyone suggest any supplements or self help I can try, to see me through the next few weeks whilst I try to get a grip.
Thanks.

I am the same really. I am on holiday (teacher) and my kids are away with their dad. I have sat on the sofa all day and I cant get up. Fortunately my partner wants me to take a yoga class with him tonight so I will do that.
So I dont have any great suggestions just wanted to wave from the sofa here.
Can you go for a run or even a long walk? Look up a local route? Find a job you avoid and get stuck in?
She says sitting on the sofa.
Hugs, can sympathise x

Hi. I have depression, well pnd too. I missed taking my ads yesterday and the day before and can see the 'black dog' lurking today.
I second walking. I've ordered some new trainers so I can start C25k - is that an option?
I'm also doing free courses on coursera to keep my brain ticking over till I start another course in September.

Do something nice for you tonight. im ordering a takeaway and continuing to plough on through the game of thrones books.

Waving back, from the sofa!

I had a slightly better day, made a list and managed to cross off a few things, and had a walk. That did make me feel better, but
I have also been glued to the sofa for the last few days. I just feel like I have to work hard at feeling OK and other people don't seem to have to. As soon as I take my eye off the ball I start to feel hopeless. It's very tiring having to be all motivated ALL THE TIME.
I have done some MOOCs as well, they are good, but it is more stuff that HAS TO BE DONE...

Did you take your ADs today enormouse?

Yes I have Smile. Very stupid of me. I put them in the bedroom, baby fell asleep and I didn't want to wake him up and forgot to take them.

Glad you're having a better day. I do get what you mean about staying upbeat. Some days you have to go with feeling crappy and taking it easier. todays been a sofa and DVD day.

Bproud know exactly what you mean about having to be motivated. My bf is like a puppy, always on the go, that's exhausting too!
I'm going away with my daughter for a few days. No doubt will drink too much as usual. Really need to sort my life out!
Keep positive!

I hear you too.

One of the few things keeping me sane at the moment is my bike. I can get on our local cycle track and keep riding until some of the darkness gets blown out of my system. Its slightly tricky at the moment as the meds I'm on mean that sometimes I'm not even safe on a bike, but I keep going.
