Anti depressants

Hi I have just started taking citalopram ( day 3). Prescribed for anxiety. Feelings of not coping and going under, state of limbo , overreacting nab panicking about nothing etc. they are. Ain't me feel odd. Spaced out, sick and I ve eaten nothing in 2 days. This normal? Also I am worried about dependence and withdrawal symptoms.

Any advice welcome whilst I'm just starring and could maybe find an alternative way. Thanks

Hi rus, YY the first week or so can feel like you are feeling worse, but if you can stick with it things will improve. Many people experience side effects at first.

I was on it for a couple of years and it made such a difference, I came of it slowly and successfully.

This is the big problem with anti depressants, in that you can feel much worse for the first week or so of being on them, making it difficult to see the point.

My advice is to stick with it. Nothing you've written sounds an unusual initial side effect and they should tail off after a week or so.

Don't worry about dependence. When you are better you can get a withdrawal plan together with your GP to come off them slowly.

Thank you. Side effects bit better now, and feeling a bit better already. Wink
