Anti-psychotics and periods/TTC

I have posted about this before so sorry for a repeat thread.

I am in the processing of stopping risperdone because it stopped my periods and we want to TTC. I now take aripriprazole which I have been told won't interfere with my periods.

Has anyone had their periods stop on an anti-psychotic? If so did you change meds and how long did it take for your periods to come back? I worry mine will never come back.

And has anyone TTC/been pregnant on anti-psychotics? My CPN and psychiatrist are aware that I want to TTC and are very supportive of it but I still worry it would be bad for a baby if I was lucky enough to have one.

YY I never even thought of putting it down to the meds - decided I was having an early menopause
I was on Quetiapine XR
I had a couple of lighter ones at the beginning then they stopped ....
Saw my consultant & said I was extremely pissed off with my non-stop appetite & huge weight gain (4 stones since Jan !!!) & he agreed I could stop it & think about an alternative
Think it was June that I stopped taking them & had a flipping big period in July
Still not decided which anti-psychotic to switch to - he gave me 2 choices
Oh and sadly not lost any of the weight yet
Good luck for you TTC

I took olanzapine whilst pg. I took 2.5 mg & after a few months as the blood volume in the body increased I took 1 1/2 tablets. I also took sertraline. DD is fine.

Freezingfingers--just an observation and I'm clearly no expert, but having looked into this problem and discussed it with my pdoc, Quetiapine stands as one of the least likely AP's to cause this problem. Risperidone and Amilsupride are the two most likely to cause this.

Hopeful bump.

It was def the risperidone that stopped my periods but I do think that quetiapine affected them as well (took that before I started risperidone)

I thought I would update this, I have cut down to 1mg of risperidone now and I got my period this week so I am very happy!

Quetiapine made my periods disappear for 7 months! I stopped it and they started again.
