Fluoxetine side effects help

Hi my dh has started taking these because of an industrial accident that he is still recovering from physically and mentally.
He is on day 12 and was just wandering how long it takes for the side effects to diminish. He has insomnia increased anxiety loss of appetite and just feeling crap in general. His neuro consultant said if he doesn't get on with these he would try amitryptiline ( not sure on spelling!) as they help with pain too as he has headaches. But he doesn't want to change yet if the side effects should go soon.

If he still has such bad side effects after 12 days he needs to contact his doctor. Side effect usually subside after about 2 weeks.

Thank you. I have told him to try getting a doc app for tomorrow as that will be 13 days and he feels worse on them than what he did before!! We know this is normal but thought that he should be feeling better by now.
