Emetophobia dd2 came home and mentioned sick

Dd2 has autism and associated delayed speech , her nan took her to a fete today and dropped her at the door . This evening dd2 said girl sick blurgh , now I'm terrified she's been in contact with a bug . Mil is scarily casual about bugs saying their in the air and you can catch them anywhere

If it was a fete then without doubt the girl who v would have been bouncing on a bouncy castle and probably stuffing her face with ice cream and all that. I'm sure it's not a bug, and also if they are out in fresh open air it's pretty impossible to catch. Your dd just witnessed it from a distance that's all. Chill out, breathe and relax, you have nothing to be scared of. I'm a former emetophobe and you have my support

Yes I would bet dd just saw it happen from a while away and made the association. Vitamin b6 can stop things like nausea so I recommend that. It's just reminded me of a time I had a v bug and you know what, the whole time my sis stayed with me she didn't catch it. It was a bug I had caught from someone so def a proper one, but sis didn't get it and I think she was just careful washing her hands and not being too close to me. There's never any guarantee you will catch a bug anyway, so really do try and take it easy.

My emetophobia started from around age 6/7 all the way until about 16 and it was severe. Heart racing, anxiety attacks and not being able to drink much in case of v. I had morning v with first pregnancy and for some reason this cured me of it. I still get shaky if I know someone has a bug or has v but I cope much better with it. Don't feel like it will always rule over you

I think it's just the nasty jerky movements and watching someone go through something that's out of their control isn't it? It's very primal watching a person v or give birth or poo, if you get what I mean. When it happens you just have to turn away and get the hell away from the situation. Soon the v will be over and everything resumes as normal. How many years have you had the emetophobia and do you know what triggered it?

I've only had it for three years , as a family we had two horrendous stomach bugs close together , then last year poor dd2 had an awful bug that had her vomiting for 12 hours straight . It's silly but I'm scared to wear the dress I wore that day in case I bring another bug on , I know this sounds ridiculous , thank you so much for asking

You don't sound ridiculous to me at all. I am an emetophobic and anything to do with bugs would warrant the same reaction in me. Mine is not as bad as it used to be, but bugs still scare me witless, so you have my sympathy.

Like PeoplePleaser said, it's unlikely it was a bug - I would suspect if it's hot where you are it may be something to do with too much sun/too many sweets/too much bouncing! Although it is easy to be prepared (I spent my teens/early 20's hating winter and avoiding nearly anyone who mentioned bugs) outweighing the likelihood of it happening can provide some comfort.

Poor you. I'm a new emptophpbia sufferer. I haven't actually been sick for years, one day woke up with a permanent sickness feeling.

Probably as others have said too much sun, or bouncing around. All will be fine
