This is gonna be complicated. Right I currently have two psychiatrists as I am switching back to my old one as my current one is useless. So good psychiatrist is psychiatrist A bad psychiatrist is psychiatrist B.

Psychiatrist B refused to change my medication from arirpiprazole back to olanzapine despite arirpiprazole not working and olanzapine working great.

So I asked to speak and change back to psychiatrist A. Psychiatrist A said that I can switch back to olanzapine. But that we would wean down as I am on 30mg arirpiprazole. While slowly increasing olanzapine. However as psychiatrist A is full psychiatrist B was to oversee medication change.

Just been to pick up my script. Psychiatrist B has completely removed my arirpiprazole so I have to go cold turkey. He has also put me on a starting dose of olanzapine at 10mg on my next script which is in a month.

So to summarise he is not weaning me off arirpiprazole. He is leaving me a month without anti psychotic. He is starting me on a very high dose of olanzapine that will knock me on my arse.

Can you ask your gp to advocate for you on Monday?

Florencethenurse · 21/06/2014 14:37

In such do us gave a CPN? If so they could advocate for you.

It may simply be an oversight ( crap but essay to rectify early next week if you feel up to contacting crap psychiatrist secretary).

Failing that rings up PALs service and explain, they can help you and will be listened to.

Gp won't speak out against a psychiatrist.I used to have a cpn when under good psychiatrist. Crap psychiatrist refuses to give me one so I don't have one.

What do you mean when you say psych A is "full" - if he/she is prepared to change your meds and has a plan about weaning off one and introducing another then surely he must oversee that change. He is either treating you or he isn't. Did you speak with him yourself to agree this med change?
Psych B seems to be acting unprofessionally and almost punishing you for your request to see Psych A and change meds.

I think the only thing you can do is to contact Psych A again and say what has happened. Would Psych A be prepared to allocate a CPN to you to oversee the change in meds. I don't think he's being fair to you by getting the psych who refused the meds change to write the script for the meds change. Think you need to be assertive to Psych A and ask that he oversees this change in meds.

Otherwise the only other thing I can think of is to complain to the Care Quality Commission.

Imsuchamess · 22/06/2014 10:13

Psych A is head of practise and has no appointments for three months he wants my meds changed over sooner. Psych B has a appointment for the 1st July so that's why psych A said to see psych B to start the change over then my further appointment will be with psych A.

But surely Psych A can talk to Psych B to agree your meds change - how long would that take - less than 5 mins!! It's ridiculous that you are being caught in this trap between the 2 of them. I still think you need to get back to Psych A to advise about the script Psych B gave you and request that he prescribes in line with Psych A's agreement with you. If Psych A is head of practice then Psych B should defer to him?

I'm with NN here. Personally, I would ring the CMHT (speak to the duty worker) and leave a message for pdoc A saying that there's been a 'mistake' with the prescription that's been issued to you. Or I'd go to my GP and say the same--presumably all of pdoc A's instructions are recorded in his/her letter to your GP. (Do you get a copy of the letter?) I'd frame it as an 'oh dear, the wrong prescription has been issued to me.' I'd avoid any suggestions of animosity with pdoc B.

Imsuchamess · 22/06/2014 20:04

Thanks I will speak with pdoc A again.
