Went to doctors today. Have been prescribed a low dose and in the short term, sleeping tablets. A week's worth only, just to help my sleep get back on track. I had Prozac once when a tee,n, but was drinking so much I can't remember if it worked or not! I've been given 30mg, hit reluctant to take it but depression getting on top of me. Does anyone else have any experience of this?

I take fluoxetine, I have minimal side effects and I think it does help me with my mood. I hope it works for you.

Yeah, I've been on it for over a year. I had severe depression so much so that I even had physical symptoms. I felt suicidal. GP prescribed prozac, didn't fancy it but had to do something. Took a few weeks but since then I've not looked back - haven't felt so good in years tbh. Made me realise how shitty I pd felt for so long.

Loads of different antidepressant medication though so if it doesn't work try something else xx

Thank you. What kind of physical symptons did you have Peppa? I've been having lots.

I have been taking this medication for 14-years and have no intension of coming off it any time soon. I have talked to my GP, because I wanted to know if there was any reason why I shouldn't take this long term, and apparently there isn't. The only side effect I have is weird dreams, but I can put up with that, when I feel so good during the day. I'm taking a higher dose too (150mgs). When I started this medication, I wondered if this is how everyone feels normally?

I am on fluoxetine (in liquid form) and also on fast acting melatonin. The melatonin is definitely working but the fluoxetine took a while and I had a few side effects (odd dreams, feeling ill, heartburn) but I feel more alive now.

I've not had any side effects as yet. I think an increase in suicidal thoughts, which I expected.Well, quite an increase, does anyone else experience that? I was at a wedding yesterday and had a glass of wine and a glass of bubbly, but didn't take mg sleeping tablets. I felt a bit spaced out, but I think that was most likely the drink, rather than the tablets. I font drink usually, but it didn't do any harm.

Am on fluox 60mg. is it 60?....yes it is. Had to check then!

It keeps me straight and keeps my head above water. I take it like I take vitamins, don't give it a second thought, but it is necessary for me to function like I do now.

The only side effects I got were I think just a day of extreme tiredness at the very beginning. Was yawning every minute. I think I still feel more tired than is normal generally and that's probably the prozac though.

150mg? Shock I thought the max they prescribed in the UK was 60? gosh

Hmm I'm not sure they are right for me yet. I've been feeling tired and jumpy, but also also a little but borderline psychosis today. I have flashbacks, so I'm used to it, just let it pass and wait until it's over. It sounds a bit weird but because I don't I usually take anything I can almost feel a chemical change. I've felt like that with my depression, like some one was kicking me under the ribs and a strange shiver. It really does feel odd; but I expected it at the start. I'm just not sure how to cope with it or whether I should be worried. It was probably a bit to do with the drinking too. I should have stayed off it until I was sure it wouldn't react

With my depression, I had no appetite, weight loss, vague physical aches all over, itching. Nothing really specific but I felt awful. Prozac worked for me, took a few weeks to kick in, try it but stick with it gor a few weeks. No major side effects for me.

Katkins1 · 02/06/2014 14:21

Thanks. I had throwing up, cold shivers, not being able to sleep, physical aches (felt post-viral). Not sure how I'm getting on with these, feel really tired and had bits of psychosis earlier (seeing things that weren't there, spiders, but I knew weren't). I'm finding the really tough going, and need to catch up with my freelance stuff tomorrow, but right now I'm shattered. Think I will go to the GP, and change them. My friends say preserve with them, they do work, but I'm not so sure.

Didn't have anything like that's with prozac, try something else, it's worth sticking with it when you find the right one for you x

I have been really struggling, dizzy spells, too hit, numb lips, spaced out. I can't work out if it's the depression or something else. My friend has been looking after me today, she's been through similar.
