How long do bad symptoms last on Sertraline

I am takiing Sertraline tomorrow for the 2nd time. Tried it few weeks ago only 1/2 of a 50mg tablet. Felt really shaky, anxious and sick. I'm off for a week so have decided to give it another go so I don't have to face work at the same time. I was just wondering what other's experience of those common symptoms you feel last? I was hoping it may be a few days. Am dreading those feelings again.

A week or two for me. Benefits of it outweigh the side effects though

Have been on and off it for a few years now. For the first few days starting I get a bit dizzy and feel like I'm a few seconds behind everyone else, and for the first couple of weeks anxiety and a bit of an upset stomach, plus a war between exhaustion and insomnia. But really, it's never been that terrible. It is worth it, and those first few days are over before you know it.

Thanks for that. I took it before bed and had a long lie in, which I think has helped as I do not feel to bad so far. Just a bit queasy which I can handle just not the jitters, but hopefully it will be worth it in the end.

Some people take them at bedtime to reduce side effects, and I started that way but then found it interfered with my sleep and switched to mornings. Then again sometimes it can make you jittery or dozy so it's always whichever works best for every person. Good luck!

I had nausea for a few days which felt significant but soon disappeared.I am having insomnia and tiredness and will try taking it at night instead of the morning.

My mood has improved so much, after about a week, so I feel it has been beneficial.

I came off it recently, 50mg was fine for the first few months, had loads of energy and felt amazing. Dose was raised to 100mg and I lost my short term memory, gained 25lbs in a month, couldn't even form a coherent sentence. Been off it 4 weeks and only just returning to normal. It can be a good drug but it isn't for everyone. Do look out for side effects.

Thanks for all the advice. That sounded scary when you took 100mg. Did you find that the 50mg just was not doing anything? I am still feeling ok, just the queasiness and a bit anxious today, but I am not at work this week. So the test will be next week. I do so hope they work I can't take much more of this anxiety its getting to screeching point (if that makes any sense).

Sorry to interrupt just marking my place x

I had nausea for about a week... it really wasn't nice but it did go away! About 4 weeks my husband noticed my anxiety was less and at 6 weeks did.

I feel less addicted to food on them than I usually do - but only 6 weeks in so far.

I do get restless legs at night which is an odd side effect. Otherwise I have energy spurts in the day where I dont want to sit down. I still sleep too much though.

50mg was OK, it was working well. Can't remember why the dose went up now. I do hope they work for you.
