Week three on prozac, should I still be anxious?

I am better than I was but still not great, still get irrational thoughts and panicky particularly in the evenings which was always my worst time.

When I was on citalopram I was a lot better by now I think but I am hoping I will continue to feel better? By three weeks would it be working fully does anyone know?

Hi there, I started on it yesterday so am of no help whatsoever i'm afraid. That said, my doctor said that the full effects should be felt in 2 weeks. I'm sure someone with a more helpful answer will be along soon.

Thanks name change, how are you getting on with the rest of it?

I was so ill when I went on citalopram but then it did work well-I think though over a few weeks just can't quite remember how many!

With the prozac I have been way less sick, better control over my appetite and more energy (citalopram made me really lethargic) but still anxious ...hard to know what's better!

I've heard it's amazing so i'm prepared for the side effects. (although slightly anxious about being able to hide them at work...) I've also just started on some sleeping tablets so last night had an incredible sleep having not slept properly for weeks, it was such a relief today to feel less foggy. Glad to hear you're not sick - or less sick! I'm not relishing the thought of that one!

I've had a couple of times feeling a little nausea in the morning but nothing major, compared to awful sickness on citaopram for the first week. I was expecting it to hit me this time but nothing much at all which is a relief, hopefully it will be the same for you.

Just talked to dh (who is also on it) and remembered he felt better then had a bit if an anxious period at week three-he says I had the same on citalopram too which I had forgotten so I really hope it is just a blip and I start to be fully better soon.

I said the same about hiding side effects at work to the gp-she said no one will notice and somehow that made me feel ok enough that I don't think they did!

Slightly better I THINK but big day at work tomorrow I just hope anxiety doesn't get the better of me!

It can take up to 6 weeks for the full effect to come through, especially if you up the dosage along the way.

Used2bthin · 14/05/2014 21:27

Thanks I suppose I wonder whether I need to up the dose but probably can't cope with the anxiety that might cause with all I have on at the moment.

Good to know it can take a bit longer to build up in the system though as it means it many improve more for me.

I do think you should just have a chat with your gp and tell her you're still so anxious. What dose are you on?

Used2bthin · 15/05/2014 17:52

20mg, I am a bit better today but had a big event at work which is now over (till next week) may be as bad before that! I am still doing a fair bit of over thinking despite cbt stuff.

I'm on 40mg for depression and you can go up to 80mg.

Used2bthin · 15/05/2014 19:32

That's good to know I could potentially up it, will speak to my GP next week as I have an appointment as will have been on them a month this weekend.
