I feel so much better not taking antidepressants

I'm sorry, and I know maybe antidepressants can do the world of good for some people, but have to say, I for one feel so much better off them -

I was in a failing relationship, got blamed, went on antidepressants, which I think prolonged my failing relationship, put on weight and just did not help -

I have to say, drugs that help depression can only help when you have other supporting factors to help, they may numb certain feelings, but that can either support you up, or keep you down -

I've been through the worst time of my life recently, but 4 months ago when it all went wrong I came off them - may not have been happy, but lost 5 stone (back down to under 10), feel more head strong and together, and not 'numb' anymore - may not be happy just yet, but god, i'd never go back on antidepressants again in my life -

Sorry if anyone thinks antidepressants helped - but think only if you have other support they can possibly - ??

Perhaps you feel better because your situation has started to improve. The number of people helped by Antidepressents far out ways those who didn't find them helpful.
As for other supporting factors, everyone benefits from support when they need it but not everyone who feels better on ADs has extra support.

mrsB Far from improving, my situation has gone from worse to worse - but I have to say I feel more active to deal with stuff now since off antidepressants -

Yes they can numb certain feelings, but how does that help you when your on your own?? I was on for 2 years, and when my other half left came off because I needed to get together - him leaving and what I've been through the past four months has been awful, but at least I'm not numbed to anything now? does that make sense?

I agree with you OP. I feel better now I'm off mine. My mood was flat and numb all the time whilst on them. Now I can feel my moods much better, good and bad. I didn't realise how numb id become until I came off them.

Fallen thank you x

I'm certainly not knocking the use of them, but god I have to say, after two years feeling numb on them, been off them for 4 -5 months (and gone thru a tuff time over the past 4 months) I feel so much more together now than I have ever -

Think maybe some people need numbing, and sometimes people just need support - not overly convinced on antidepressants now, feel I may have not have needed them and maybe lost two years putting up with a relationship etc......

hmmmm...

Sorry OP, I misread your post. Apologies.

I'm better off without too. Even my psychiatrist agrees! Not saying they don't work of course, just that they don't work for me.
