having flashbacks

I was made redundant in mid Jan and reacted by nearly committing suicide. My boss sent me home and then called the police out as she was worried.
I got over that and have been OK for a few weeks and have now found a new job.

Trouble is the nearer my start date gets the more I seem to be getting flashbacks to the bad time in mid Jan, re-living all that happened and I am worried about why / feeling worse. One of my key problems is impulsive behaviour and I am worried this will lead to further negative thoughts / actions.

Is it just the natural anxiety / reaction to (yet more) change or possibly something deeper?

My advice would be to completely accept that this is normal behaviour after such a distressing time in your life.

Of course you're going to feel anxious after such an intense situation, it's the remnants of you dealing with what went on.

But you're alive! You chose not to do away with yourself, your life is only going to get better and better.

You have to believe that Smile

It doesn't sound to have happened that long ago, and it's good your boss was on the ball enough to call the police, she cared, and I bet there are tons more who feel the same about you.

Even if you got this job and it turned out crap so what? It wasn't the job for you, and you go on to try something else.

It's going to be fine, honestly Smile

Thank you :) That really helps me to accept that it is a normal part of dealing with the whole thing :)
