Is there a general diazepam thread????

I've searched and can't find one so thought I'd start one.

Anyone else taking diazepam at the moment and would be willing to share their experience. It's day 3 for me but I'm not really feeling any different.... Suicidal thoughts continue, voices continue & I have a really bad headache today :(
Plus really low in energy (no change there though from before)

I'm taking 3mg twice a day (one at 9am and the other at 3pm)

Any advise would be welcome. Thanks

I take 4x2mg per day. I find that they make me tired, too. They help me cope better and therefore reducing suicidal thoughts (sometimes).

6mg a day is a tiny dose its wonder theyve even bothered giving you it. I would get an urgent doctors appointment and express how you are suicidal and hearing vioces And the 3mg dose isnt helping you.

How are during the night?

Can you get a referral to see a psychiatrist who can assess medication options.

My Gp only prescribed diazepam for very short periods as they are very addictive and then they transfer you onto something more long term such as Antidepressants and or antipsychotics.

Your dose to me sounds far too low for what your experiencing in your mental health state id go straight back to Gp as soon as possible.

silver I'm on anti-psychotic & anti- depressant aswell. I take duloxitine 120mg & aripripazole 15mg (hopefully spelled it right). Diazepam was given on top of these.

For night time I take 50mg promethazine & zopiclone (as required).

At the moment I am taking zopiclone every night as sleep is very bad aswell as the voices.

Diazepam only prescribed for a week as well just to stop me being so anxious they said but I don't think it's working. It's only making me tired!

I have 5 mg 4 times a day with the option of 2 more if particularly bad. Your dosage doesn't really sound high enough. I have clonazapam at night as zopiclone can stop working after a few nights. Having said all that I've had 10mg today and am still climbing walls with anxiety. Had no effect on suicidal thoughts but lithium did.

queen ur right about no effect on suicidal thoughts mine r still d same but then again being on such a low dose would explain that

I don't know about u all but I'm having dissociation feeling on too of everything else. Like I don't belong here & nothing around me is real :( last night sleep was very rough too!

I was taking 2 5mg for many years but my psychiatrist took me off them when I started on anti psychotics a few weeks ago, I still miss taking them as I was on them for so long.

Oh that sounds like a toughie coming off any drug is hard my sympathy!

Diazepam can be quite sedating so making you tired sounds normal.

I wonder if a different anxiety drug that is not sedating would help?

Diazepam is not usually prescribed longer term - addiction, reduced effectiveness. If I took it it makes me woozy and I sleep!! Can help but not every day for weeks.

Yes silver it's only been prescribed for a week for me & today is day 4. I feel a bit ok today a bot better than yesterday so maybe it's starting to work!

Been given another weeks worth of diazepam

I was prescribed more diazepam when I started to feel worse. I don't really think it cures me, just calms down until new med (hopefully) starts to work.

It has calmed me down a bit bit the thoughts & voices continue :(

DumDum that's hard. I'm suffering with the thoughts and voices at the moment so use the diazepam to go to sleep all day to cope. Big empathetic hug to you

DD is wide awake and I'm getting and frustrated that she won't go to sleep!

I just wanna take my zopiclone and knock out :(
