Anyone else on Venlafaxine?

I've been on venlafaxine (brand name = Efexor XL) 150mg pd for over a year now and wondered about slowly coming off it (obviously only with my psych's help). Has anyone else tried to come off it? Any particular symptoms? I had a terrible time coming off Cipramil to go onto the venlafaxine and am a bit nervous about it.

Thanks,
Amanda

I came off venlafaxine quite slowly - halving the dose every couple of weeks until I was on the lowest possible dose. No problems I'm happy to report. I had previously had huge problems coming off it cold turkey and had to go back on it pretty quickly.

Hope it goes well for you .

Thanks to you both. I'm meeting the psych in 3 weeks so I should be able to start slowly reducing it then.

Kind regards,
Amanda

DP and i both had electric shock like feelings in our head. made it very hard to reduce dose. it took a lot of will power to get off them.

Thanks Lilacwine - I'll bear that in mind.

the electric shock-like withdrawal symptoms are common and well documented .

I came off venlafaxine about 6 weeks ago as it was doing nothing for me,i withdrew from it over about 2 weeks. The only side effect i had was the same as when i used to withdraw from seroxat and that is the feeling that my brain is being shaken and for some reason this affected my sight(bit blurry at times)
