Hello everyone. As I am sure I am not the only mum pinned to her sofa at the moment because of this heat I hoped we could all discuss idea's to help us get through it. I have a gorgeous 4mth old boy, who really is a delight to look after with only the odd screaming session here and there, this however all makes me feel even worse, having being diagnosed with PN depression.

I have suffered with depression on and off for the last 10yrs, and was praying that it wouldnt come back to haunt me after the birth of our baby, and then wammo! 4mths in that scary, stomach wrenching fealing is back.

I would really appreciate any advice/comments from mums who have gone through this.

thankyou.

Poor you. I have had depression in the past but not straight after the birth of a baby. I do feel for you. I dont really have any wise words to say. I am assuming your HV knows and you are being 'looked after'?

I know how you feel. This heat is making me feel worse. I have been fighting the blues since my dd was born 8 weeks ago.
I got a lot of support on this thread and felt better when dd was around 5 weeks old.
But now I have those awful feelings back. I am sure the heat is not helping. Its making dd cry more and stressing me...

Personally I am trying to get through it by:-

  • watching my Drop The Dead Donkey DVDs (it feels good to laugh)
  • thinking about the holiday I have booked in September
  • looking forward to the rain and thunderstorms that they are predicting for Saturday
  • knowing that this feeling and this heat cannot last forever

Take care x
