The local services are collapsing and this letter here was written and issued in a desperate attempt to expose and hopefully reverse the catastrophic cuts imposed by the Local MH trust - Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust. It makes for shocking reading.

Mumsnet Suffolk is working to publicise their campaign which now has a FB page and website providing a safe and anonymous forum for MHP's, service users and families to discuss issues, ideas and suggest changes.

Please will you visit our FB page
here to add your support/like/share the campaign and you will find a link to the campaign pages. Details of their website can also be found on Mumsnet Local Suffolk - here.

We really need to do something and the only resort open to us is a sustained campaign of publicity. They are keen to have Mumsnet Suffolk (and Norfolk when there is an editor there) supporting them and I really want to do my best by them and for them.

I know the MH threads are well supported on MN and so hope you will all keep this bumped.

I am a long standing MN member who is posting as LE Suffolk BTW.

Thanks everybody.

I've shared on line. There's only 8 inpatient female beds in our city. Last time I was ill they were looking over 60 miles away to find a bed. They failed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this Xmas and IncogKNEEto.

It is a truly desperate situation. When I read the letter linked to above I was incredulous to the point that i thought they had the patient death figures wrong. They have not.

It is comparable to corporate manslaughter through negligence. Look at what is happening with Colchester Hospital and needless deaths through poor treatment of Cancer. This is a worse situation yet because it is MH, it is overlooked by the general public.

Desperately ill people are being turned away from care. Nurses and Doctors are still legally and professionally accountable for dangerously neglectful care and have no power to do anything about it other than this campaign. You cannot have responsibility without authority.

I hope other MNers come forward to support this campaign.

Please to see Caitlin Moran retweeted a link to the story last night. Thanks Caitlin!

Please read and share this Open Letter to the Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation Trust by @NSFTCrisis

Here it is.

Change course or resign!

Mitchy1nge · 19/12/2013 15:12

I use these services (in Suffolk), I was aware of changes but had no idea it was all quite so desperate. Will have a look at the links.

Mignonette · 19/12/2013 15:45

Thank you Mitchy. Although twitter and FB support is strong, trying to gain traction on here has been slow.

It is very desperate and we need publicity so badly. You can join the campaign via their website anonymously if you should so wish.
