modified or prolonged release ADs

I have been taking modified release Venlafaxine for 4ys or so with great results.
Last week I noticed my latest prescription was a different sort of tablet - a normal paracetamol type one rather than a capsule full of tiny particles/grains. Today I plunged off a cliff a bit and reassure the last few days have been leading here. Tonight under my latest meds are "prolonged release" rather than the usual "modified release". Could that possibly make a diffrence or am I clutching at straws?

When my brand of venlaflaxine changed it affected me so got gp to write exactly what I needed on prescription as chemist gave me anything otherwise. So recommend getting what you used to!

technically prolonged and modified release are different. Weather it makes you feel different you won't know unless you take it. Your Dr must have written the wrong thing on the prescription.

thanks NewName I took the prolonged release for a week before had a v bad day but wad not great earlier in the week. I've been a bit close to the edge of enough for some time so.was not sure if it was something that was going to happen anyway, or if was triggered by different tablets. I got the pharmacist to swap them today and he was a bit grumpy but did it.
