I've been on escitalopram for about 3 years and before that citalopram for 3 and a half for bad anxiety.
I want to stop taking them. What symptoms should I expect and will anxiety become much worse?!

I came off imipramine when I found out I was pregnant. Make sure you taper down to make the side effects less noticeable.

Everyone is different when it comes to stopping medication but mine was mostly slight anxiety, trouble sleeping, irritability, but that all went within a few weeks.

Good luck x

I came off Citalopram veeeerrrry sloooowwwlllly and had no side-effects at all. That is of course no guarantee that another person would react the same, but my method was: 3/4 dose for a couple weeks, half dose for the next couple, then quarter dose, then quarter dose every other day, then quarter dose every 3 days, then none.

Have you discussed how to wean yourself off the ADs with your GP/psychiatrist?
