I have name changed for this. I have bipolar that is in control more or less. Recently I have developed a fear of dogs and cars. I can't drive a car, even sitting in a car makes me feel really scared. Also, seeing them driving makes me feel very uncomfortable. I am also afraid of dogs, and can't go certain routes or new routes because I am so afraid. Because of being so afraid I have started to "see" dogs that actually aren't there.

Does anyone have any tips how to conquer these fears?

Today I had to pass park trip, because I did not want to go by car and there are loads of dogs in the park. I also saw "a dog" in our garden and got frightened. Just wondering if there is any self help books etc.

My dh thinks that I am "daft". I should just go out and face the dogs and cars.

I took diazepam and managed to get to the park. It was awful but at least I am not scared of small dogs :)

I am using too much diazepam. Not sure how I am going to get next lot. But I really need to take them because of feeling bad and because of the dogs and cars.

Bongo I am so sorry that no one has replied. The closest I can get to giving you help is by recalling a time when on a bus, I saw a woman get on but not off ... I turned around and she was gone. I was terrified. I can only suggest seeing a GP that you trust and laying your cards on the table. I hope your doctor is as understanding as mine x

Thanks for the answer :). I kept on writing just to see if there is like minded people. I mean people who are scared of dogs and cars. I have told my cpn about the fears but what can a cpn do... I will have to visit gp to get more diazepam soon. She will ask the reason, so there we go...
