Microgynon and anxiety

I was thinking of going back on the pill to try and help my anxiety. Although since seeing docs, I have read on the internet it may not be a good idea. I suffer from obsessive thoughts (this is my main anxiety symptom). Does anyone else have any experience of microgynon and anxiety ?

Microgynon helped level out my extreme pmt. I still needed citalopram in the end but the pill is a huge help.

And my pmt is basically huge levels of anxiety.

Thank you, still thinking about going on it, not decided yet

Microgynon also helped my serious pmt, so in your position I would seriously consider it. I would say though is that if you ever think you might want to come off it ttc, I went a bit loopy for a couple of cycles after coming off it. Mumsnet searches confirmed that is not an uncommon experience.

This is interesting...why do you think it would help?

I'm CERTAIN my postnatal anxiety has been hormonally based.

It seems to level off my hormones. I have had three pregnancies and looking back they were my least anxious times. I think the pill makes your hormones a bit like they are in pregnancy. So if you're happy on pregnancy hormones, it'll help if not it might not. I am on citalopram now and my anxiety is hugely better. Even now, I think I'll ask gp about going back on microgynon because the only irrational irritability I have since going on citalopram was at pmt time.
