DSis suddenly out of the blue started having panic attacks about 4 months ago, started on ADs with diazepam if especially bad. Seemed relatively well, just exhausted. Then suddenly started having reeally bad attacks during which she had thoughts of suicide. She denies being depressed, crisis team involved. Has anyone had panic attacks so bad that have thought that suicide is the only answer, even to the extent of planning how to do it

I am no expert but have heard that a side effect of ADs in early days can be a worsening of symptoms incl suicidal thoughts. She needs to tell her GP as soon as possible.

hi
if shes not depressed ,the suicidal thoughts are probably irrational/intrusive thoughts brought on by the panic.

i had a very bad reaction to ad ,after 2 days -i became manic/hysterical
so bad that the gp had to come to my house to sedate me!
he blamed the ads, and told me to stop taking them.

as i was too scared to try any more meds - i was referred to a psychologist-
i tried group therapy-didnt work
cbt-didnt work
hypnotherapy-worked a bit,but wore off

Awful reaction to ADs here too. Hallucinations after one.

Not suicidal thoughts as such but at my worst thought death was the only way out of anxiety - would never end my life though.
