Hi, I'm new here
I am after some advice about the LIFT psychology courses. Any good? Have people found they help? Do you think they will help me? Here's my background:
I had depression for 10 years, always in the winter months, thought to be linked to my Dad dying in the winter, but my new GP has suggested it might be SAD. I also suffered with severed PND, requiring a stay in a mum and baby unit. I have self harmed in the past, and whilst I still get urges to self harm I have found techniques that work for me to help. I have had treatment with anti-d's (Prozac and citalopram) and Olanzipine, as well as lorazepam for anxiety. I have been off all medication for about a year now and my GP suggested a LIFT course for mood management to see if it will help with what she thinks in SAD. I have booked a place, so hoping it helps.... Anyone had any experience of these?

Xx

My friend has just finished something similar (I'm not sure that's what it was called though). She did find it useful, but her niggle was hers was run by different MH practitioners, with little continuity and she would have found it more helpful to have the same person/people.

She did acquire some useful skills though and it found it to shift her perception in relation to her mental states

Thanks for your reply Millie. Not sure if that helps me, I'm not under. Mental health team, just my GP, so I am expecting it to be people I don't know. I'm glad that your friend has found
Some techniques useful. I hope I do too.

I have been offered some but I have really deep-seated issues and I would rather have psychotherapy or counselling now.

I dont think i can handle doing group sessions.
