Police caution and GP

Not sure if this is the right place to post. It doesn't seem to be a legal topic.

My DP is going through a tough time and he has been speaking to his GP and is having counselling. He is also on anti depressants. He was arrested yesterday for assaulting someone and given a caution. I think he should tell his gp (I think his problems are escalating) but he doesn't want to. He has asked me not to tell the gp but I think he needs to know.

What I need to know is will the gp be told automatically anyway?

Thanks.

No, unless he was visited in the police station by the on call mental health team, it won't be on his medical records.

I would suggest you tell the GP yourself in confidence. then GP can decide or not to act on that information.

I regret not telling my ex's gp a lot of stuff about what ex was doing and had done, when he was descending into v bad time.
ex was always saying "please dont tell the GP!" .

now I can see that it was wrong of me to not tell the GP.

Thank you cestlavie I will take your advice. I have also spoken to friends and they say the same thing.
