Can citalopram stop working?

Hi all,
I'm currently on 20mg of citalopram for PND, and have been on these for roughly three months. I was pretty much feeling nearly back to my usual self, however the last ten days or so I've been feeling awful. Having suicidal thoughts, and feeling incredibly sad and angry. Can citalopram wear off like this? I hate feeling like this, I think I'm going to have to go back to my GP

I don't know about it wearing off, but depression does tend to have peak and troughs, so it could be that you're in a trough?

Are there circumstances that are making things more difficult for you?

Sorry you're feeling like this and yes, a trip to your GP is a good starting point.

You need to go back to your doctors, you may need to change your dose or change to another medication, are you getting any counselling at all?

Thank you for the quick replies. There hasn't been any real change in circumstances to make me feel like this. Funnily enough I had an initial meeting with a counsellor this week, but it was only a brief intro. I have a session on Tuesday so I'll see how that goes. Just so fed up of feeling fed up!

Have you has any hormonal changes at all? For example when I have my periods my depression gets worse.
