Afraid to go to bed

Just that really.

It's 5 years since the trauma. I thought the PTSD had gone, but bits of the Simon Schama programme have brought it all to the surface again.

Listening to Florence + the Machine is helping but I am afraid of the nightmares.

So I don't want to go to bed.

can you watch a tv show in bed? something funny?

i cant help with nightmares but i had something called "rewind" therapy for PTSD, it works in one session, it removes the emotional response from memories and as sceptical as i was it worked to remove 8 years of troubling memories for me in 20 minutes.

nightmares i can sympathise with - ive been having some horrendous dreams lately, but sometimes i have found the worst ones quite healing as i have done in the dreams what i should have done in real life....

google "rewind" - it is not EMDR - its different, but works.

Thank you for answering. I can't watch tv in bed but am here listening to 'Spectrum' and it helps.

Vicar I will go and google it now.

Thanks again. It feels less lonely.

theres always a few night owls around in the night....im usually about but that said need to get to bed soon as got work tomorrow (though not early! thank god)

ive found reading before bed really helps with nightmares too, i read until im dropping off and then go straight to sleep.

im on medication which i think has made my dreams much more vivid and weird.

It's strange because it is months and months since this haunted me and so I think I'm probably over-reacting. I need to go to bed too. Perhaps just being exhausted is the best way to deal with it!
