body memory therapy

Has anyone had any experience or know anything about this?

Is this the therapy that helps the body overcome trauma,tic life experiences? I mean, by working with the body rather than the brain? It sounds really interesting if so, but I have no idea what the actual practice if it is like.

All I know is that my counsellor is using it to try to help me unlock some amnesia I have from a traumatic incident. I just wondered if it could really work, and how, and what then etc.
