Background in brief - history of abuse and lengthy depression, self harm, lots of therapy in teens inc psych ward stay. Now suffering from CFS (also known as ME) and having CBT as part of the treatment.

So, we were talking about low self esteem, negative inner voice etc, and she suggested doing this to gradually build up evidence against these thoughts. I've done similar briefly in the past but having done a lot of psychological 'inner work' this year I feel ready to make it stick and I thought doing a thread on it would make me more likely to bother!

I'm off to watch telly with DH in a mo (Big Bang Theory 6 arrived yesterday :o) so won't be back til tomorrow but if anyone wants to do this with me then jump in! Could be stuff you've achieved, nice things that have happened etc.

Mine are:

  • Had my consultation over the phone for the first time - was worried it'd feel weird but I stuck with it and found it really helpful.
  • Contacted a friend to arrange a meet up while he's visiting home (I hardly ever initiate anything like that)
  • Wrote in my treatment journal the same day as my session, instead of leaving it for weeks!

:)

NYM, CongratsSmile
Yesterday:

  1. DH brought home not one but two wonderful surprises for me Grin
  2. I got something done that was very important in the morning and that saves me from big hassle today.
  3. Online food shop arrived so there is dinner and snacks to be had, was winging it big time over the midterm break.
fuzzpig · 05/11/2013 18:05

NYM, huge well done on the needle thing. That's a massive step for anyone with a phobia let alone somebody who's just given birth! Thanks

Yesterday:
Coped at work despite epic sore throat, and went the extra mile for a few customers who really appreciated it. One even asked for my name :)
Nice chat with my line manager at break - have been a bit distant lately so feel a bit happier now.
Noticed my (colleague) friend was actually more upset than she was letting on, so gave her a hug which she really appreciated. So I was a good friend.

Today:
Got loads done with DH, threw away loads and sorted some loose games/toys into decent boxes.
Family Guy 12 guilty pleasure boxset arrived today - earlier than expected - so that's this evening sorted!
DCs played beautifully this afternoon and really made me laugh with their funny songs, and pretending to be spies singing the pink panther theme tune...

hello new to this thread but I think it's something I need to do, to begin to counteract all the negative in my head.

  1. DD slept well last night and today and we had a nice day together.
  2. A friend contacted me, even though we never spoke, it's nice to feel wanted.
  3. Step forward more planning my return to work after maternity leave.
ColouringInQueen · 05/11/2013 21:33

iMe · 06/11/2013 19:33

Yesterday:

  1. Took a big step in the next stage of the process of possibly perhaps maybe one day going back to work.
  2. ChocolateGrin
  3. No headache.
iMe · 06/11/2013 19:40

Hi & welcome Audweb

Today:

  1. Picked up my new glasses. Everyone who has noticed them so far has commented how nice they are and that they really suit me.
  2. Tried a new recipe and it was a success with the family.
  3. Got an errand done that I have been putting off doing for a long time.
fuzzpig · 06/11/2013 20:07

Welcome audweb :)

Today:
This one will out me as a total wreck, MH wise, but I made a big step today using the loo at work straight after a colleague did. I have weird ishoos about not going in straight after people and people not going in straight after me! Blush Mad I know... blame the (according to psychiatrist I saw last year) OCD. Anyway, I did today admittedly because if I'd deliberately gone in the next door one which is technically the men's one I'd look even weirder so that's a big step.

Finally got back to writing in my treatment journal. I was SO close to just binning it and chalking it up as yet another failure, but I sat in bed after work (was feeling exhausted) and have now nearly caught up with my sessions. I've got two face to face appointments tomorrow (occupational therapy and psychology) and wanted to get up to date.

Was feeling really down about work today, I just hate feeling like I am missing all the opportunities to make progress because of my health. But I got compliments on a little geeky display thing I'd done, and a colleague (who I admit I've been a bit envious of lately, as I feel like I should be doing what he's doing) asked me to do a similar thing for him too, so I have made a start and I'm proud of what I've done.

  1. Took time to sit down and email a friend.
  2. played along with someone playing a harmless prank on someone and had such a good laugh afterwards. Don't worry, no one was hurt in the process.
  3. Somebody watched me getting frustrated and struggling to do something so tried to come and do it for me. They didn't manage either, but it was so nice of them to try and it made me feel less of a fool for not being able to do it myself.
ColouringInQueen · 07/11/2013 22:46

Painted a reasonable portrait of dh.
Evening out I've organised which I've found v stressful is actually about to happen.

Hello fruit :)

Mine for today:
Spontaneously went to a great pop art exhibition with my parents, saw some great pieces including Warhol and Lichtenstein works.
Finally got the guts to text a school mum for a play date - I find that sort of thing outrageously hard
DD is totally over the moon to have started recorder club today, and I'm really excited that she's so excited :o
