I have posted here on many occasions and need a boost. I have complex mental health issues; bipolar diagnosis/ possible bpd/ etc, etc, etc.
I am on citralopram and awaiting cbt. I have a very dark past re dv and it has a dramatic effect on my career/life choices. So I would like to look to the future but at the same time resolve the issues regarding my past.
One thing I would like to do is move away from my rural home town and go back to live in a city but I am worried about loosing a lot of support. I just hate small towns. I also want to press ahead with my career and get a job as an English teacher and it would require a move to do this.
I also met and dated my abuser in this area and would like to get away from those memories if that makes sense , even though it is a lovely area, opportunities are limited and it is small-minded.
I just find it spo hard to carve out a niche with all of my issues to contend with aswell.

Ironically I would also like to point out that my mental health issues have always brought me back to my home town to shelter in the support of my parents.

You are something, something rather wonderful. You just haven't had the opportunities where you are to shine.

As much as a move might be frightening, you have made a very succinct case for doing so.

Go on, be brave!

Your parents can still support you if you move to a city. You can phone and visit each other. You're right to think early about the support you can find in the city you move to, so maybe you could research some potential places for support in your new city on the internet, before taking the plunge?

Go.

Imagine yourself in 10 years if you don't. You'll be bloody furious!

I'm similar to and much much older than you and I have recently bitten the bullet and moved away from a small town to somewhere I've always dreamed of living.

I was terrified but I am soooo happy! Wish I'd gone 20 years ago.

Hypnotherapy really helped. PM if you want to discuss.

Just do it. If it's crap you can come back. Bet you won't though!
