Side effects on Venlafaxine

Have just moved off Mirtazapine and onto Venlafaxine as the former wasn't helping to shift PND. On 75mg of Venlafaxine now, started on 37.5mg on Saturday and worked up.

I'm getting all the expected side effects - general anxiety which am trying to ignore, nausea, yawning, sweating, loss of appetite and just generally feeling bleuch.

My question is, how long can I expect this to last? I have my driving test next month and can't even face practicing at the moment let alone sitting a test. Also - and this is really trivial I know, but - am a major foodie and going to Bangkok in a fortnight and it's the first time away from DCs and was planning to eat my way round the city...but at the moment it's hard going forcing down toast. Just no appetite and feel sick...

When did the side effects wear off for you? On the plus side, this will do wonders for a twin Mummy tummy Grin

Seeing GP again in 4 weeks who may move me onto 150mg depending how things are going. I know at that point it starts acting more on the resistant depression. Just want it to go. Told her someone should market a pill which is Restore Factory Settings (TM). That's all I want! Not to be happy, just back to normal...

It started having positive effects after about 2 weeks and most of the side effects were gone after about 3 months but I still get night sweats n it messes with my periods ( on pill). I found the appetite n sickness comes n goes n the tiredness fades.
Good luck, when you start feeling better you will be amazed how much you missed it, it made me feel quite giddy n hyper in comparison.
How long have you been on them?

Thanks faerie. Been on Mirtazapine since November but didn't shift it entirely. Not blue, but nigh on impossible to concentrate/get motivated/make decisions, which is very unlike me. Withdrew last week and started on Venaflaxine on Saturday. So early doors. Just feeling a bit annoyed if I can't exercise my normal gluttony on holiday! But hey, at least I'm 'well' enough that I CAN go on holiday Smile

i just found it made me very tired for the first week, and made me lose my appetite for a while but actually started feeling the benefits to it really quickly.

Also made it take longer to orgasm for a while, but had no effect on sex drive, and its side effects in general have been a lot less than for some other medication

Thanks branleuse.

Am hearing such good things about these new pills, feeling hopeful!

2 to 3 weeks for me, and the only on-going issue I find is a bit of constipation Blush
