Uncertain Future

My partner is currently suffering from a wide range of mental health difficulties (depression, anxiety, delusions, suicidal thoughts and threats, extreme mood swings). I am fully supportive of him and doing everything in my power to help him. Things however are moving very slowly doctor wise and I'm worried about what will happen long term.

I am currently on maternity leave, due to go back in January. I was going to go back sooner as the financial strain of my partner being signed off is taking it's toll. Due to his illness he just can't cope with the children (2.4 years and 12 weeks) and I just don't know what the hell is going to happen if he's still unable come January?

The way things are going DP will probably lose his job soon and I really have no idea what to do about everything.

I have never been in this position before and would appreciate any advice.

You have titled this "Uncertain Future"

But I think, for your sake as much as his, you need to do this one day at a time.
ie "Today".

Nothing at all wrong with planning, but as regards worrying, concentrate on "today".
And when you both get up tomorrow, concentrate on that day.

As regards the financial and work stuff, there is a good employment board on here,

Hi can your dh see his occupational health as they may be able to help. Have heard OH can speed things up. If you show work you waiting for medical appointments then that can be seen as positive. Also can get fit note for phased return, reduced hours etc.
