Antidepressants and alcohol

I was prescribed citalopram last night and I've never taken any anti depressants before

I know it advises against alcohol but I was just wonder what people in the real world actually do?

Also how does it make you feel if you have a drink whilst taking anti dp's?

I usually have a couple of bottles of wine over the weekend but I'm willing to give it up if it really is a no no

I gave up as it was counter productive as alcohol is a depressant so it seemed pointless to drink. A glass now and again won't hurt though.

It's not a big no no...
I drunk a huge amount daily while on citalopram if that helps
Go easy at first I suppose as you don't know how you'll react, have a glass and see if you feel light-headed.
I do agree with valiumredhead that it's counterproductive though, and don't recommend it for that reason.
