Best way to support DH with depression?

DH feeling very low at the minute, sleeping a lot & lying on sofa the last two days watching tv and dozing. It's very hard to watch as he's normally so energetic. Anyway I've asked him to re-pot a plant and it seems beyond him. Should I leave him be or push him to do small jobs or bouts of exercise? He's on ADs around 2.5 weeks so a bit to go before they kick in. Any advice appreciated.

God, been there, done that. Sorry for you both :(
My Dh didn't really leave his bed for many weeks, took a few months to get the AD dose right, I'm sorry to say, but everyone is different.
Will he talk? Does he have issues to resolve that you can help him with, try to be proactive?
I did on occasion drag him out for a long walk, which he did admit was a good idea afterwards as he did feel a bit better each time. You could suggest a walk, bike ride, swim, whatever he may like.
It may be slow progress, small steps, and you will have to use all the patience you possess! Make sure he eats something and drinks enough - easier said than done.
Encourage him to continue to visit his dr too, that's important.
Best of luck with it. Flowers
