Flouxetine - side effects?

Hi, I've just started taking this. I've read up on the side effects leaflet but there is no menion of how long the side effects last.

Is it a case of putting up with them for as long as I'm taking the stuff or do the effects wear off over time once the body gets used to the drug?

I've got a dodgy tummy and a bit of dizzyness. Neither too bad while I'm signed off but I'm due back next week and I'm sort of hoping the tummy issue will have gone by then.

I started taking it a few months ago for PMT and at the start I got really bad headaches, loss of appetite, really tired all the time and were it not for my horrific PMT I probably would have stopped it. Really glad I didn't because after a few weeks it really settled down and feel so much better now, not in any huge ways but feel more like me again and no side effects at all now. Just feel normal again... And no PMT Grin

ive been on fluoxetine for a yr, when i first took them i had the shakes, clenched jaw, feeling sick, woozy feeling. probably more at the time - i cant think good at the moment. it took about 3-4wks before i felt less symptoms.

hope it helps abit

I've been on it for a looooong time - it was my life saver! I was fine after a fortnight. If you aren't we'll enough to return to work because of side effects then can you be signed off for another week? Might need to take it a week at a time. Good luck Thanks

Hi it took a couple of weeks before my side effects -nausea, dizziness, headaches calmed down - as other poster said if you're still feeling rough after 7 days then I would ask to be signed off for longer. Hang in there - they do help.

Thank you for your answers.

I've been taking them since Sunday and today the dodgy tummy seems a little less dodgy so there is hope! By the time I go back on Monday it will be seven days. Boss really wants a decision tomorrow as I am a teacher and he needs to get supply if I'm not. He's not hassling me, just asked yesterday.
I'm popping in today to see if I can handle going through the door!
