Hi,i have had an appointment come to see a psychologist soon and wondered what will happen on the initial consultation?does anyone know or have experience of this?

They lots of questions about you and your immediate family and generally discuss what the next step will be. It does rather depend on your personal circumstances of course.

No cos it all depends on your personal circumstances as to what brought you to see the psychologist. analogy: Dr cant give diagnosis without first seeing the rash.

I was a bit scared of not knowing what to say or rather having to much to say and blurting out all sorts without direction. I wrote down a list of things that I felt and that were bothering me and gave it to mine at the start.

My first visit felt difficult because it had taken years to build up the courage. I cried a bit with the sheer realisation I was there. It will give you a chance to see if you feel comfortable talking to him/her. Be honest. If you don't know what to say, say that. Its their job to help you work out what you need to talk about. Does that makes sense? Good luck.
