Hello snowy - I have been away for a few days to Ireland and had a peep at the long thread and noticed you had "popped by" to say Hi. I do hope you are settling down to the boring hospital routine, as that's the only option just now I reckon. The other thread has got so big so I just pop by occasionally cus I like to answer people personally and I lose track of so many. Hope you won't mind my putting out a call for you. Don't feel any pressure to answer............NNx

I am getting used to the routine, still sectioned and still feel I'd be better at home. They've increased my meds quite a bit, I just want to sleep a lot. Quiet as consultants away because of Easter.

Ah so glad you found the thread snowymouse and glad to hear you are getting used to the hospital routine - it sort of takes over doesn't it. It's probably the increase in meds that is making you want to sleep a lot I would think, but try to hold on to the fact that the increase in meds will be beneficial to you and you will be discharged once they are certain you are stabilised.

I'm OK just now thanks. Had an awful Jan and Feb so got in touch with my CPN and she arranged for a psychiatrist to visit me (a nice one this time rather than the horrible one I had seen before) He added some new meds to the ones I already had - CPN due to visit in about an hour.

Hello you two. snowy sleep all you want. When I was sectioned in 1993 they wouldn't let people go back to bed in the daytime - thank god things have changed now. After 4 days and nights awake (was hypomanic) not surprisingly I needed sleep. The day room in my locked ward was filled with patients attempting some shut eye in some v small chairs.

When I had to go in for short stays in 2003 and 2012 we could sleep all we wanted, what a relief.

Sorry my posts sound to be about me, but are really supposed to show empathy for you...

Hi SPC - things have changed a bit I think about sleeping in the day on psych wards. When first admitted in 1995, twas much frowned upon and not really "allowed" - bit better in 2010, but nowhere on the ward to get comfortable. Also we had to be up at different times, depending who was on duty!! Mind we had relaxation at 10.00 and I liked going to that.

Yep Ireland was OK thanks, lovely to see my grandchildren and my HM remained fast asleep, which was a great relief.

Snowymouse I remember weekends being quiet as some patients went home. Do you have any relaxation classes, or OT stuff. It can help to pass the time, but it depends on the OT I think and his/her ability to empathise without patronising. Mind I found empathy in very short supply from the ward staff.

Hello again snowymouse - does that mean there is no OT at the moment. Are you able to read more on your phone, cus don't want to go yakking on if you can only read a few lines. Do you get visitors - hope so. NNxx

Just popping my head in to wish you well SnowyMouse. I am still IP and on a 3 as well - rubbish!

I colour in and do a lot of puzzles, could you do that?

Oh Hi FDG I remember you from the posts on the MH forum, and remember how you were struggling (as we all do when mental illness is severe). Good idea about colouring in and puzzles. I do the colouring on my bad days to try to distract myself. You can get "adult" colouring books from Amazon for a reasonable price.

No OT, family live fairly far sway. Luckily I can nap during the day. I have been trying jigsaws, but others dismantle them.

Hello snowymouse nice to hear from you. Pity there's no OT - it's a long day as an IP isn't it.....hope the naps make it shorter. Are you sleeping at night? I haven't been on the other thread for a while but it's still there I think. Is there a garden. There was a small one when I was an IP and luckily spring 2010 was good so I got to sit outside a fair bit, which made me feel a bit better. Weather hopefully on the change though no idea where you are.
I'm doing well at the moment but never know how long it will last.

They may be having a discharge meeting tomorrow, bit short notice to find an advocate.

Shouldn't it be a rule that they give you enough time for an advocate. Hope it is, cus I know you want to go home. Be interested to hear how it goes. Take care NNxx

Oh that's good news snowymouse are you going to have to do that thing about going home for a day or two and then back to hospital, or will you be discharged. I had to do that coming and going thing.
