Child abuse.

Obviously I know what physical abuse is and I suffered that a lot as a child but there are a few other things that happened that I think come under sexual abuse.

Waking a child to take them into your bedroom and watch you mas*bate while you look at playboy etc.

Talking to the child (6yo 7yo 8yo 9yo) about sex and other people having sex and explaining it to them but not in a age appropriate way.

Showing the child pornographic material among other things.

I can't remember if any touching was involved, I seem to have forgotten a awful lot but calling the above sexual abuse seems a bit over the top to me especially when compared to children who were less fortunate than me (I was able to escape before it got too bad)

I'm starting counselling soon and am still uncomfortable with calling what happened to me sexual abuse.

Can anyone relate to me at all?

Sorry for going anon but hopefully you all understand why.

IMO yes that all counts as sexual abuse.

Good luck with your counselling.

It was of a sexual nature and it was age inappropriate, therefore abusive = sexual abuse.

I do understand where you are coming from, however it is a little like saying 'I dont suffer from DV because s/he only slaps me and doesn't punch me.

Hope the counselling goes well.

Yes absolutely it is abuse.

And it absolutely DOES NOT MATTER that it is 'not as bad' as other types of abuse. Honestly. Don't go down that road. You have just as much right to be hurting, and to seek help for the awful things you've been through, as anyone else who has been through 'worse'.

I'm very sorry you have been through it. MN is a wonderful place for talking through things like this. Thanks
