Sertraline side effects -help!

Gp prescribed me sertraline 50mg on Tuesday, I've been in constant pelvic pain and feeling a bit low about it all really. He also prescribed the pill for me and said as that may make me feel a little depressed the sertraline should help combat that as well.

I took my first tablet on Wednesday morning and again thurs and yesterday. Had been feeling nauseous each day but last night it really hit and I was awake most of the night trying not to throw up (I'm terrified of being sick). I haven't taken a tablet today as was going to try taking it tonight instead but I've felt so awful all day I'm not sure I will bother taking one at all. I feel completely exhausted, unreasonably so and swear I've yawned - big, lion-like yawns - about 100 times today. Been on my own with the kids all day too so no chance of a nap but I honestly feel like I could go to bed for 24hrs and just sleep solidly.

Have also felt sick on and off all day, especially if I eat something. Have only managed a couple of biscuits.

Wondering if starting the pill yesterday may be contributing to the nausea too or if its just the sertraline? Is this exhaustion a side effect too? If so, how long do the effects last? I wasn't too depressed before and I'm certain if my pelvic pain is remedied I will feel 100% better mentally anyway so thinking maybe just stop the sertraline?

Any insight would be much appreciated :)

I'm on day 4 taking it and really tired! Didn't get up until lunchtime today. I get the yawning too. Still feeling down, but the anxiety has got better.

Take the tablet - it's horrible getting the side effects but they will pass. Got to give it time (that's what I keep telling myself anyway!)

Good luck - let us know how you get on x

I started taking sertraline nearly 4 weeks ago, and went from 50 to 100 mg last week. The nausea stopped after a few days, but I am still ridiculously tired and quite fuzzy headed.

Can't say the anxiety is loads better yet, but still early days.

Hang in there OP
