Are you likely to get PND twice?

My DH suffered with depression after our first dd (only time he has been depressed), she did have silent reflux and potential development issues as well which I think was the main trigger.
If we have another baby how likely do you think it is that he will get it again?
I'd love to hear from anyone who has has PND who may have some insight into this.
This post is very brief but would be sooo long if I went into all the details!

You DH having depression is not postnatal depression. Postnatal depression is different from mainstream depression because there are hormonal factors. Men can experience severe depression at any point in their lives.

The trigger for your husband having depression would have been the stress of major life change rather than the huge hormonal changes of childbirth, breastfeeding and the postnatal period.

Statistically women who have postnatal depression have a 50% chance of being ill again. This is due to biochemical factors.

I suggest you talk to your GP to ask about the chances of your DH getting depressed. I imagine its a lot less than 50%. Anyway your husband can reduce the chances of experiencing depression again by reading about CBT or prehaps Human Givens.
