hi
anyone here have any experience of exefor? i have been on 75mg dose for 8 days and am feeling alot worse than before i started. its the drowiness that is the worst - i sleep all night and then have to sleep again for about 3 hours while kids are at school. have no energy to do anything but sit around the house then all afternoon.
any advice? was put on it to give me a lift as am suffering extreme fatigue after an illness - how long before this lift comes? am thinking of giving up on it. or maybe i should be taking it at night time even though doc said take it in the morning?

any advice would be great

Schooldays ADs take some time to settle, usually 2-4 weeks after initiating.
Effexor is one of the stimulating ADs rather than sedating so should keep you awake, Xmas Grin rather than send you to sleep. Hence, it is often taken in the morning.
It might be that Effexor is improving your overall mood and hence making it 'easier' for you to sleep because you feel more relaxed. Or it could just be taking a little while to 'establish' itself. I would suggest to stick with it for a month before going back to your doc.

I used to take it. Had lots of side effects as increased doses, it is well known for side effects and withdrawal effects. Were you offered it as first Antidepressant you had, as it is not usually given as a firstline ad. I did find it helped, but took a very long time to come off it, which was tough. I had to have sleeping tablets with efexor in the end. I have just had a medicaiton review and the psychiatrist said if she was prescribing for herself she would use sertraline, which I found interesting.
