Any one ever used the new self referal scheme?

Just wondered, looking at healthy minds self referal scheme.

No, but I have worked within the service. It's a great way to gain access to talking therapies. Once you self-refer you will initially be offered a brief telephone assessment after which you will be offered the most suitable treatment for your problem, or will be signposted to a more appropriate service, e.g. for alcohol dependency.

Yes - for my husband on Friday. We saw a private psychiatrist in the morning - for speed as the situation at that point was pretty desperate, but can't afford the costs of staying within the private system. He gave us a letter for our gp - who gave us the telephone number for self referral. We had a telephone assessment and have an appointment for Tuesday and an emergency number to call if needed. We haven't needed to call it as the medication given to my husband has calmed things down. Unsure what happens at the appointment, but hoping for some help amd maybe counselling - we'll see what they say on Tuesday.
