Quetiapine for sleep

I have been prescribed 100mg Quetiapine (an antipsychotic) to help me sleep by my psychiatrist (he's not a fan of hypnotics and benzodiazepines - deems them addictive).
Sometimes it really makes me sleep, but other days it has no effect at all.
Anyone else taking for sleep and if so any tips, what dose, or wise words!?! Can't sus why it's so variable. Thx.

(I also take 300mg Venlafaxine IR during day and 30mg Mirtazapine at bedtime.)

Mirtazapine made me really drowsy & Quetiapine wiped me out for 2 days I was so sleepy. Are you allowed to take sleeping tablets? They usually prescribe a short course to help you get back I to a normal sleep pattern.
You could try a hot bath with lavender or burn some in your bedroom.

you can get tiny doses of quetiapine, 25mg or 50 I think?

I found that the sedating effect wore off after a while and ended up taking stupid amounts (about 800mg at one stage, 200 in the morning and 600 at night) and it made me really fat Angry but I think it was supposed to be stabilising my mood as well as helping with sleep, although it didn't do either of those things very well

am not a fan but I know lots of people who are and it's very popular so it must do some good?
