Anyone had DBT (not CBT)?

DBT is Dialectical behaviour therapy not to be confused with CBT.
Any experiences from those who have that you wouldn't mind sharing?

I have been in DBT group therapy. The therapy was aimed for borderline personalities. It was ok and I learnt some coping skills. I did not really like it as prefer talking about my problems and past.

I had DBT last year and I have found it very helpful. Our course was over 3 months and it was emotionally very draining. Homework each week and group sessions. I found the group setting really hard to start with but the benefits now certainly put how I felt at the time behind me. I wish there was a refresher course I could do.
Some of the techniques I learnt I use more than others, as they suit me better.
My diagnosis is BPD and can honestly think this has been the most effective thing I've tried

Thanks both of you. Mine sounds very similar to yours SD7174 3 months group therapy. I haven't (yet) been given a diagnosis of BPD but googled that this appeared to be the primary diagnosis for DBT. I am recovering from a breakdown and still in hospital. I have done group work before, but like you said SD7174 it seems a lot of work and I am still very fragile. I think I will opt for 121 psychodynamic therapy for time being. Thx.
