Discharged from hospital.

I have been discharged today after 6 weeks in hospital. Bit scary but ok I guess.

Hospital was such a positive experience for me, I felt really safe and I have not self harmed in 6 weeks. The staff were pretty good and generally it was a good admission.

I am really scared about the next bit, I recognise that not enough has changed for me at home to be able to continue to be safe, so working on making changes to my every day stuff.

Eeep.

im glad hospital was a positive experience for you
what support are you getting now you are back "outside"?

fluffydressinggown · 17/09/2012 19:07

Oh lots.

CRS 2/3 times a week.
Psychologist once a week.

CPN once a week.

I had all this prior to admission as well and have seen my CPN and psychologist throughout my time in hospital so it is all on-going.

I've been discharged too, but only from day hospital. Feel very unsettle and unstable. Hope u manage ok, expect the first few days will be hard. Take care of yourself

Really good to hear you had such a good experience and that you have a good level of support now that you've been discharged.

MrsMuddyPuddles · 18/09/2012 12:17

I'm so pleased to hear this fluffy, you can do it.

Just remember to go easy on yourself. I remember being very fragile for the first days / week of being discharged as I got used to having to look after myself again.

Its very good that you've made it this far and have lots of support and I'm glad you had a positive experience with the hospital.

Yes I do feel very fragile, just realised that DH won't be home until late tonight as well which doesn't help really.

I have not really cooked yet but I have bought food (bought a sandwich for lunch today from the bakery) and I went to Morrisons with DH last night and sorted a wash out yesterday so small steps I guess.

Yes, it is small steps, but it does, and will get better every day. I don't know about you, but I really missed having people to talk to throughout the day. It can feel a bit lonely when you're at home alone for the first time in ages.

It may make you laugh, but Cooking was my downfall as well for the first couple of weeks. I'd remember to do one part of the meal - e.g. cook the meat, but forget to do anything to go with it. On one memorable occasion we ended up having chicken curry with ready made yorkshire puddings as it was the only carbs we had and I'd forgotten to get any rice.
