Poor you. Better now since having the dds but used to just feel normal about one week a month, and it was worse every other month too. Get on the attack, you don't have to put up with it. Talk to your GP if you're on the pill, might be time to try something different. Get a blood test to check your B12 level, take a multi vitamin, star flower oil, keep hydrated, eat little and often keeping off bread (rice cakes and Marmite were my friends) and eat fruit when you get sugar cravings although a square or two a day of dark chocolate is good. Avoid caffine, get regular exercise of some sort, yoga's good. Herbal thing Agnus Castus was recommended to me by two GPs for hormone regulation. I still take it. Good luck.

I suffered with PMT two weeks of every month ever since my periods started. It was awful, I was foul to everyone around me. I would be irritable, snappy, tearful, dramatic...I was horrible to my little girl, it actually became quite scary - I'd be shouting at her and manhandling her in what seemed uncontrollable rage, in the two weeks leading up to my period every month.

Exercise helped but I didn't always get the chance to do the half hour of aerobic activity that was needed every morning for me to stay mildly sane.

I also suffered from anxiety and related depression. I went to the doctor and he prescribed 10mg Citalopram. It took me a month to pluck up the courage to take them because I was worried about the side effects. I had a week of side effects, before feeling practically euphoric.

That was a year ago and I've never looked back. PMT has been completely wiped out...I just don't get it anymore, I don't lash out at my little girl and my life is 100% better. AD's aren't for everyone. But they saved my life, I look back now and realise I didn't have to live like I did since early teenagehood - all I needed was citalopram to make me feel normal. Wish I'd been on them years and years ago.

I'm in the middle of a period from hell. It was a week late and I'm trying to come off fluoxetine which is increasing my anxiety no end but I hate taking them!

If you find an answer please tell me.

I'd second the multi vitamin but with minerals included too-
worked wonders for me and a few friends/colleagues.
