Propanol beta blockers can be used for anxiety. Also SSRI's that will boost your serotonin levels. I take Sertraline, Olanzapine & Clonazapam. Are you already seeing a Dr? They will try a few things to see what works best for you. They like to see you regularly to see how you are going on the meds. Counselling would help tooo

Citalopram has worked wonders for me in the past.

A painkiller called Pregabalin is good for anxiety. Nothing else worked for me but this saved my life.

I was recommended beta blockers or diazepam.

Have you spoken to a doctor? Please don't try and self medicate. Trazodone worked for me, citalopram sent my anxiety through the roof, so it's a very individual thing. But without the CBT that I had alongside it, the medication wouldn't have been enough.
