You will know what to say when you begin speaking. Your gp will ask you about sleep and appetite and general mood. Chances are everything you have built up and held in will come out and it is likely you will have a good cry. Whatever happens your gp wi be experienced with this and will have seen it all many times before. You are doing the right thing going - you know yourself better than anyone. Good luck Wink

The doctor will (should!) use questionnaires about your mood over the past few weeks. So it doesn't all have to come from you. Try to rehearse (or write down) what is making you look for help.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The doctor was really helpful and went through a questionnaire with me, he's prescribed citalopram for me, 10mg this week then 20mg from next week onwards. He says they will take a while kick in and went through the common side effects. Thanks for the replies
