Citalopram and Weight Gain

Been to GP's this morning to ask if I can reduce my dose.

I have put on a bit of weight since taking Citalopram but I put that down to being more mellow. However my GP said it does interfere with your 'feeling full' message' so I need to reduce my portions and be careful. She said it doesn't make you hungry though.

Do any of you agree with this? It makes sense to me.

hi
have to say when I took it, I had massive uncontrollable carb cravings - cakes, chocolate etc and could not stop - I put on 2 or 3 stones - my fault but I was like a person possessed whereas beforehand, whilst I had a sweet tooth, I could easily just stop at one biscuit or a fun sized chocolate bar. I did feel more mellow too and this made me become pretty laissez faire with my exercise which previously had been quite structured.
Good luck x

No difference in my eating habits here.

I have put on a few pounds but that is because I haven't been cycling to work in this bloody awful weather.

Exercise is a great way to regain that chemical balance in our bodies that is often off-kilter when we need something like Citalopram.

Now the good weather is (apparently) coming our way, get thyself out there - walking, running, cycling ...... whatever.

I feel a bit like that love-the carb thing. Sad

That's the plan Ooops, as soon as the nice weather comes I will be out walking. Smile
