Hi TizzyLizzy

If you are interested in finding a healer I would suggest that you visit your local Spiritualist Church where healing is often done in a very calming atmosphere. Unfortunately many Reiki healers charge for their services (which of course they have a right to do), but Spiritual Healing is given within the Church for free. A Spiritualist Church is a very normal place (many people make it out to be wacky and it is not). If you do not want to actually attend the service which includes a visiting medium then I am sure that you can approach or contact a member of the Church who will assist you to enable you to see how you feel about spiritual healing. There are also many Spiritual Healers that will assist you outside of the Church...and most do not charge. If you are nervous I suggest you take a friend with you. A true spiritual healer will NEVER tell you that there will be a miracle cure so avoid those that say such things. Ensure that the Healer has the proper credentials. Ask all the questions you need to. I received healing through spirit in the past for a bad back and I can only speak for myself and say that it most definately worked for me. Google Reiki and Spiritual Healing to find out the differences and what you would most prefer to try. Good Luck. By the way Scottishmummy...you shouldn't be so judgemental unless you are an expert on the subject.

They do reiki in our Spiritualist church for a £2 donation on the door, covers refreshments and overheads. But that's a rarity I think? SNU churches usually have healing services just for healing and not with a demonstration.

Please for once scottishmummy can you not instantly come onto a thread with your opinon. Op didn't ask who thought it was shite. I used to think it was shite but now know differently.

I give reiki but I don't charge. I know it can be expensive though and I wish more places did it cheap like our Church. But I suppose the therapists have to earn a living? Most I know do it p/t alongside other jobs.

And in answer to your question OP it is very good for anxiety. It won't harm you and is complementary to other treatments. Use it alongside your GPs advice though. My old GP used to have reiki she loved it Smile

A page on Spiritual healing at SNU churches. Hermit's right we don't charge for the healing, it's usually a donation. Plus you get refreshments and the people are nice to chat to. Well they are in my experience Smile And there's no trying to convert you either. With Spiritualism people are drawn to the religion if they want to be. So visitors can come and go to demonstrations, healing services, workshops etc... and no one would expect them to change religion. All religions or people with no religion are welcome.

HermitatHome · 25/07/2012 14:52

Well said CuriousMama. I also am a member of an SNU Spiritualist Church and as a working Medium I agree with all that you say. Some Healers must charge for it is their living...their job...and their purpose in life and they have to eat and pay bills too. Regardless of creed, colour or belief, all folks are warmly welcomed within the Spiritualist Church.

CuriousMama · 25/07/2012 14:55

I know it is a lovely religion. It still has it's share of strange people and a few with huge egos but all in all it's a great belief. I used to be a member of Darlington church but have since moved and my church isn't SNU so that's why they do the reiki too. Apparently you can only do spiritual healing in an SNU church?

HermitatHome · 26/07/2012 09:04

Hi CuriousMama
Spiritual Healing can be done in any Spiritualist Church. I know that the main Church is the SNU, but anyone (non-SNU) can open a Spiritualist Church without being under the umbrella of the SNU. For example I opened a local church (closed now) which was affiliated with the Scottish College of Spiritualism which is/was based in Glasgow. Unfortunately I have not been working for a while as I have suffered from extreme anxiety and depression for ages now and trying to cope with that. I know that my beliefs will help me through it all.

There's a very long thread here about reiki. Initial posts were about its helpful effects. Then it all got a bit bunfighty. But interesting reading if you've got the time. Smile

CuriousMama · 26/07/2012 11:18

Yes HermitatHome I meant they don't encourage reiki asaik? So only spiritual healing. I've been to healing services before and not needed to have the healing as have received it just sitting in the energy Smile

I saw that thread sumsumsum. It's a shame it gets to that. Some people get very bitter about things they don't understand or believe in.

CuriousMama · 26/07/2012 11:19

meant afaik not sure where the s came from?

Tizzylizzy · 27/07/2012 16:14

Wow! Thanks for all this info. Thought this thread was a dead dodo. Have been thinking about going to a Spritualist church lately too!

Curiousmama can I ask you what changed your mind?

About reiki do you mean? I had it done and am now level 2. If you do level one big changes can happen. It's very clearing. Nothing can hide from reiki so if you have suppressed feelings they can come out. It's fantastic though imo. My reiki master is also a spiritualist and a lot of spiritualists do have and administer reiki.

I find it fascinating and tbh I put science strongly alongside my religion. There's so much we don't understand that happens but I feel there's a shift going on and more evidence will come to the fore? Maybe not in our lifetimes but it will? It's all to do with energy and the more we find out about different energies the more we'll understand.

It works for me!
