my brother has been going out and drinking far too much. I'm not sure whether he drinks during the week but at weekends he is getting totally off his face to the point where he is talking a load of crap and sometimes staying out all night.
His girlfriend who he lives with has had enough of him.
He has a really good job that he nearly lost a few weeks ago because he had got beaten up in a pub and had to be off he looked such a mess.

saturday night dh was out in our local club and met up with my brother, they were having a good night and then this guy came over and smashed my brothers face in.
my brother says he has no idea who or why, which is what he said the last time but i feel that maybe that can't be true.
dh took him to the hospital and then back to our house, i was devastated to see my lovely ( and he is lovely ) brother covered in blood and beaten up.
i don't know whats going on, he has always been the type of guy that everyone loves, everyones friend, funny, popular and unbelievably caring and kind hearted. I adore him. I am so scared that i will get a phone call to say something even more awful has happened and i can't stop worrying about it.

At AA they say that you have a drinking problem if alcohol is costing you more than money, and it's clearly costing your brother more than money.

Is he drinking for a reason? Confidence, depression, to remember, to forget?
