Side effects and work

Been taking citalopram for two weeks; got over initial dizziness, feeling sick etc but seem to have developed a tremor- type thing - like uncontrollable short bursts of shuddering that happens periodically. Doctor says I can go down to 10mg if I want to but I need it to still work and as I came out as severe in the depression scale that's obviously why they put me on 20mg. I don't know what to do about work - I can't go in when I'm like this but I don't know what to tell them and I don't know how long it'll be for. I feel ok physically apart from that - bit shaky and still feeling anxious and low but not feeling really dizzy like at first. Has anyone got any advice please?

What sort of work do you do, is it customer facing? I'm just wondering why you can't go in like this, what's your dr say about it? How open can you be at work about your illness?

Not open at all, unfortunately. I'm a teacher Sad

:o I withdraw the question! Hope your gp can sort out something to say or something to fix it.

2 weeks isn't very long I'd give it a bit longer. I know it will be hard but try and take each day as it comes.

2 weeks and they'll only just be getting into your system. Its very normal to have weird side effects to begin with but they usually pass.

Mine didGrin

If you can give it longer I would

I went back to doctor who told me to just stop taking them as I'd not been on them long enough to make sudden stopping a problem. Doc said if shaking stopped we'd know it was definitely that and could either start again slowly or try a different AD. I've not had any physical withdrawal symptoms really - feel a bit sick - but suddenly feel a lot worse mentally - really down again. Was feeling much more positive about my relationship but now feel rubbish about everything again. I don't know what to do. Off work at the moment. Feel like I'm skiving. Gah....

Would you feel like you were skiving to be off work with a broken leg, or recovering from an apandectomy, or a sudden onset of diabetes or a heart condition that needed time to stabilize with meds? practically quoting something said to me when I expressed similar nonesense

Take care of yourself this weekend, banana!
